ABOUT ASSIST

The Arm for Specialized Services Initiatives and Support (ASSIST) is the service division of the GHI. Through ASSIST, GHI designs and implements community-based services and interventions that aim to address the health needs of vulnerable populations including children and youth, women, elderly, socioeconomically disadvantaged, and refugees.

ASSIST also aims to enhance the wellbeing and quality of life of communities in the MENA region by developing and empowering the NGO sector regionally through its flagship initiative: The Non-Governmental Organizations Initiative (NGOi).

KEY INITIATIVES

Community Health Outreach

ASSIST targets underserved communities in Lebanon including refugees and host communities through community health outreach activities and health days aimed at raising awareness about key health problems, providing necessary health education, and improving diagnosis at the community level.

Non-Governmental Organizations Initiative (NGOi)

NGOi is an initiative based at the American University of Beirut (AUB) and operationally led by the Global Health Institute. NGOi provides different services to the NGO sector in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). It serves as a regional hub for the NGO sector development, capacity building, certification and knowledge exchange.
