ABOUT HLD
The Humanitarian Leadership Diploma (HLD) is developed by the Global Health Institute (GHI) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) in collaboration with the Humanitarian Leadership Academy (HLA). It aims to build the capacity of the humanitarian workforce equipping them with the leadership skills to become agents of change.
It is designed for managers, and officers working in the humanitarian sector as well as those considering a career change by empowering them with the knowledge and skills essential for a better understanding of the realm of humanitarian leadership.
HLD will advance the leadership skills of learners and increase the readiness of organizations, to effectively tackle humanitarian projects.

DIPLOMA STRUCTURE
HLD follows an online asynchronous (self-paced) learning modality to cater to the needs of practitioners in the humanitarian field. It includes 8 courses that can be registered in any sequence, and learners have the choice to complete one or more courses or the full diploma.
HLD is delivered through the Global Health Learning And Development (GHLAD) platform of GHI.
Once they complete each course, the learners will receive an online certificate and upon completion of all eight courses, the learners will receive the Humanitarian Leadership Diploma.
DIPLOMA COMPETENCIES
Demonstrate the ability to apply the fundamentals of humanitarian leadership and coordination in humanitarian settings.
Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage humanitarian projects.
Develop monitoring and evaluation system plans and tools.
Identify budgeting and reporting tools for humanitarian projects.
Apply effective managerial and leadership communication skills when working with teams and stakeholders
Design operational and strategic plans for disaster response and preparedness.
Employ effective communication tools during mediation and negotiation in conflict sensitive contexts.
Employ the fundamentals of international humanitarian response and translate them into their practice according to the humanitarian context.
