  3. NGOi Course: Methods of Assessing Community Needs

Description

Course Description
This NGOi course provides professionals interested in the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) sector with essential knowledge and skills needed to identify and understand community needs. Assessing Community Needs is a systematic process of assessing and defining the needs of a targeted population, as well as any potential gaps between desired needs and current resources. This process places the community at the center of the project cycle. Following a needs assessment, the NGO professionals should be able to adjust their focus and/or resources to better meet the needs of their target population. Key skills they will learn include assessing community needs and working collaboratively with stakeholders. This course will apply both needs assessment concepts and professional skills to a practical, hands-on field project throughout the month.
