Description

This 60-minute virtual panel, organized by the Epidemic and Pandemic Preparedness Program at the Global Health Institute at the American University of Beirut, is convened in response to the World Health Organization’s declaration of a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) for Ebola virus disease in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. Bringing together frontline outbreak experts from affected countries, regional and global health professionals, and MENA preparedness specialists, the panel will examine the current outbreak situation, the factors driving its spread, the ongoing international response, and the implications for preparedness and response across the MENA region. The discussion will focus on lessons learned, existing challenges, and the readiness of health systems to detect, report, and manage potential imported cases.
