  3. AI-Driven Disease Health Surveillance: Enhancing Health Threat Detection with a Focus on Vulnerable Populations

Description

The session features Dr. Nahid Bhadelia and the BEACON (Epidemic Intelligence) team from Boston University, who share insights into how advanced analytic tools are transforming early outbreak detection and situational awareness. By integrating artificial intelligence, open-source data, and digital surveillance methods, the discussion explores practical applications of epidemic intelligence and how these approaches can be adapted to strengthen disease surveillance systems across the MENA region. Particular attention is given to low-resource and crisis-affected settings, responsible data use, and opportunities for regional capacity building and collaboration.
