Course Description

In non-governmental and non-profit sectors, the organizational effectiveness and ability to meet strategic goals are linked to the NGO’s capacity to develop, support, and nurture successful teams. This is ensured through the enforcement of frameworks and policies for human capital management practices.

This course provides professionals working in non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with an understanding of human capital management and the skills to develop a successful volunteer programs. Learners will recognize how volunteers can become not only the deliverers of services but also future board members, donors, and key stakeholders in an NGO.

Learning Competencies

Learners will be able to:

  1. Plan and implement a workforce process that aims to determine human resources needs and meet them by developing the staff base
  2. Create a healthy work-place culture, values, beliefs, and norms that helps achieve the mission of the organization
  3. Develop recruitment policies and job descriptions that enable the organization to attract diverse talent
  4. Build a performance management plan to properly monitor employee performance with respect to the pre-defined KPIs
  5. Create a strong volunteer program
